Itinerary

Altitude: 2,846m/9,337 ft
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
Accommodation: Teahouse
Walking Time: ~ 3–4 hours of hiking
Elevation: + 1,210 m/3,970 ft
Distance: ~ 7.5 km

Your journey begins with a stunning 30–40 minute flight from Kathmandu to Lukla, one of the entrance points of the Everest region. Our local porters welcome you when you arrive at Lukla Airport and will assist with carrying your load. A quick stop after arrival comes before we embark trekking to Phakding.

The trek gently descends into picturesque Sherpa villages through lush forests and suspension bridges over the Dudh Koshi River. Tibetan prayer flags in bright colors are seen fluttering in the mountain breeze along the way, symbolizing good luck for a safe passage. We arrive at Phakding, a small village along the riverbank, after around 3–4 hours of hiking.

Here, you will enjoy a warm supper and a well-earned rest in a local teahouse before the adventures that lie ahead.

Altitude: 3440m/11,286 ft
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
Accommodation: Teahouse
Walking Time: 6- 7hrs
Elevation: +830 m/ 2,723 ft
Distance: 7.5km

Our walk today traverses through village of Monzo. We soon encounter the Dudh Koshi River, which we cross twice via outstanding suspension bridges – an exhilarating experience that is reputed to be extremely safe. Our trail then heads south, leading us towards Jorsalle.

After we enter the Sagarmatha National Park (a UNESCO World Heritage site), we'll arrive at Jorsalle, where we'll take a brief rest. From this point, the most challenging section of the day begins: the steep, 600-meter ascent to Namche Bazaar. This section includes crossing the clear, brightly blue water of the Khumbu River on another suspension bridge.

The climb from the bridge typically takes two hours. It is a tough slog, but halfway you will be rewarded (weather permitting) with your first fantastic view of Mount Everest (8,848m).

Namche Bazaar is the destination for today's trek. The largest settlement in the Khumbu, Namche offers a busy atmosphere with shops selling everything from basic trekking gear to unusual souvenirs. Be sure to sample the local Yak Cheese that the area is famous for!

Altitude: 3440m/11,286 ft
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
Accommodation: Teahouse

It should be understood that altitude sickness affects individuals in a different manner, and susceptibility does not depend on age, sex, or even good physical condition. Individuals are simply more vulnerable than others. Since this trek is 5,500 meters high, well above the level of most individuals, responses to it are difficult to predict.

With these considerations, a rest day as part of the itinerary is a necessary safety measure. Your body is afforded valuable time to acclimatize physiologically to thinner air through the scheduled rest.

Rather than complete inactivity, we'll have a light exercise to make this trek easier – an acclimatization hike to a local village and school. This promotes circulation and acclimatization. The highlight of the day must be the potential for stunning Himalayan vistas. If the weather allows, you can look forward to spectacular views of Kwangde (6,011m), Thamserku (6,623m), Kangtega (6,782m), Nuptse (7,861m), Lhotse (8,516m), Ama Dablam (6,812m), and the holy grail: Mount Everest (8,848m).

Altitude: 3,856m/12,651 ft
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
Accommodation: Teahouse
Walking Time: 5-6 hrs trek
Elevation: +416 m/1,365 ft
Distance: 9km

Get ready for a picturesque hike today. While the path does have its climbs, particularly after Phunki Thanga, the stunning Himalayan scenery is an endless source of inspiration. These stunning landscapes offer endless chances to click the majestic Everest Region.

Our journey leads us up to the well-known village of Tengboche, the residence of the Khumbu region's most important monastery. We plan on arriving there sometime during the day, ideally before the monks' daily religious ceremony at 3:00 PM begins so that we will have some opportunity to silently observe this fascinating ceremony.

Altitude: 4,380m
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
Accommodation: Teahouse
Walking Time: 4 – 5 hrs
Elevation: +520 m /1,706 ft
Distance: 9km

Today's destination is Dingboche, which is well known for high altitude potato farming. Prior to suspension bridge crossing, we have a decent portion of hike in beautiful rhododendron forest. This day is relatively easy, about 5.5 hours to be hiking. The trek includes a three hour slow ascent to Dingboche. On arrival we will enjoy exceptionally clear and up close views of towering peaks of Mt. Amadablam and Mt. Lhotse.

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

With our current altitude of around 4,400 meters, stabilizing our respiratory system is our main goal for safe acclimatization. To that end, today is being designated as an essential rest day. A full day of exertion is not suggested, but gentle acclimatization walks to Pheriche or a nearby sister village will allow us some light activity without exhausting ourselves. For those who are well-acclimatized and after a cautious assessment of individual physical condition, a longer day hike to Ama Dablam Base Camp may also be attempted. But our primary concern is to keep everybody healthy and provide our bodies sufficient time to acclimatize well to this altitude.

Altitude: 4940 m
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
Accommodation: Teahouse
Walking Time: 4-5 hr
Elevation: +530 m /1,739 ft
Distance: 8km

We start the day with an easy hike up to the Pheriche Valley. As we walk, the views of alpine forests and maybe even some Himalayan yaks foraging on the trails will be our company. Our ascent is up to Chupki Lhara, the site of some of the most touching memorials to those who’ve lost their lives here, and beautiful multicoloured Buddhist prayer flags, which blow in the wind.

From there, we will cross the Thokla Pass. Although more challenging at this point of your trek, the magnificient views of our surroundings will surely captivate you. From here we will also have some of the most panoramic views of the magnificent Nuptse, towering Lhotse, massive Lhotse Shar as well as numerous other must-see summits pushing up into the sky over 7,000 meters giving you a view like none other.

Altitude: 5,160m/16,929 ft
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
Accommodation: Teahouse at Gorakshep
Walking Time: 6–7 hrs
Elevation: +424 m / 1,391 ft
Distance: 15.6 km

Today is a relatively gentle start to our trek, with the first hour or so of mostly flat terrain, followed by a steady climb that will take approximately two or three hours. From a distance walked perspective, it is likely to be one of the least physically demanding days of our adventure. Aware of the threat of high-altitude sickness, our journey towards Gorakshep will be slow and gradual, allowing our bodies sufficient time to acclimatize.

This easy-going nature of the trail makes it an all the more wonderful day for photography enthusiasts as we would have ample time to soak in the beauty around us and record it with our eyes and lenses too.

After reaching Gorakshep, there is another 1 hour and 45 minutes climb to reach to Kala Patthar via a boulder-stony path with numerous boulder stones along the way. Rising to an astonishing 5,545 meters in height, Kala Patthar is renowned as the most spectacular and unobstructed viewpoint of Mount Everest. The irony is that this height falls within accessible distance for trekking in Nepal without a climbing permit. Although a popular viewpoint, Kala Patthar's literal English title "Black Stone" aptly describes its tough, non-mountainous appearance.

Having taken a while to enjoy the breathtaking sight from Kala Patthar, our 45-minute trek to Gorakshep will be our end point for the day.

Altitude: 4,371 m / 14 340 ft
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
Accommodation: Teahouse
Walking Time: 6-7hrs
Elevation: –789 m / –2 588 ft
Distance: 14.5km

After our experience at Kala Patthar the next stage of the trek sees a change to a more simple phase. But in this part pay special attention to your safety as the trail is very steep. Although the physical effort may be less than the ascent, the slope requires great care and attention to navigate well and safely.

Altitude: 4,371 m/ (Pheriche)
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
Accommodation: Teahouse
Walking Time: 7-8 hrs
Elevation: –1,536 m / –5,039 ft
Distance: 11.5km

As our amazing Himalayan experience draws to a close, we now start off for Monjo. This is a relatively softer day from the physical angle and covers a much greater distance. However, do not forget that we are still in the Everest Region, and therefore the fundamental mantra of carefulness along the paths is still the paramount. We must be aware of the paths and our steps as we tread our way to our destination.

Altitude: 2,840 m / 9,318 ft
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
Accommodation: Teahouse
Walking Time: 4-5hrs
Elevation: + 5 m / 16 ft
Distance: 9.5km

As we embark on the final day of our trek, the trail ahead of us will, in some areas, narrow down to a smaller path. For the most part, however, today's effort should be moderate. Let's enjoy these final stages of our Himalayan trek, taking care of the ground as we walk.

Elevation: –1,522 m / –4 993 ft

Our wonderful trekking journey concludes today with a scenic flight from the Tenzing-Hillary Airport in Lukla to the bustling city of Kathmandu. After a farewell to the breathtaking mountain views, we will board our flight, offering a final aerial glance at the magnificent Himalayan range. At the Kathmandu airport, a comfortable vehicle will be waiting to take you straight to your city hotel. This will offer you a seamless transition to relax and reminisce about the unforgettable moments of the past few days as you get back to the comforts of city life.

  • A Perfectly Organized Poon Hill & Chitwan Trip – Highly Recommend This Agency!

My husband and I did the Poonhil trek and Chitwan park with this agency. I only have good comments about the work done by Durbah and the team. He organized the entire trip for us, including transportation and accommodations during the trek and during our visit Chitwan. The accommodations choices were very good and according to the standards we expected. He didn't have any problem to customize the trip to our requirements and he always answered our questions very fast. We did the Poon Hill trek with Nabin, who was our guide. He was very attentive and did an amazing job. We felt in good hands which allowed us to enjoy our trip very much!

  • Admiral Adventure: Flawless Logistics + Unbeatable Value

My partner and I weren't initially going to hire either a porter or guide on our EBC trip - we were convinced that we could do it on our own. However, after speaking with other Trekkers and with Dhurba (the owner) I decided that a porter/guide would be he best option. Dhurba organised everything for us, including our Tims cards, a taxi to the airport and told us where to meet our port guide. It was the best decision we made.We met our porter/ guide, Bishal Tamang, at Lukla airport and immediately we knew we would have an excellent trip with him. Bishal carried my bag whilst my partner chose to carry his own. However, most importantly, we got a real insight into the local culture, customs and learnt so much more about the mountains than we would have on our own. Bishal could point out all the mountains and tell us their various heights - something that the independent travellers really missed out on. Bishal stayed with us throughout the trek and took us to secret viewpoints, we never would have found them on our own. Our whole trip was really enhanced because of spending time with Bishal and we even learnt some Nepalese card games and songs!! I'd highly recommend Bishal.Admiral adventure treks were so helpful and organised everything for us quickly and efficiently. Their prices were very good, but more than that, the customer service was just excellent. Thanks very much!!

  • Patience, Stories & Safety: Yagya Karki is Admiral’s Secret Weapon

We recently completed the Everest Base Camp trek and had the services of Admiral Adventures. Tika, the owner, did a great job in ensuring we were well taken care of upon our arrival in Kathmandu. Our guide, Yagya Karki, was absolutely the best. Karki was always full of anecdotes, advice and, unlike some guides that we came across during the trek, always prioritized our safety above all else. His calm demeanor, patience and soft skills in managing sometimes very difficult adults (us) was exceptional and we were all pleased with his services. I suffered from AMS symptoms when at Lobuche and Karki took care of me and handled the situation very well. All in all, I would definitely recommend AA and in particular, Yagya Karki!!

  • More Than a Company - Admiral is My Nepal Home Since ‘09

I've been trekking in Nepal with Tika as a guide for the first time in 2009. I was so impressed that I went back there in 2010 and it appeared that Tika had established his own company. I have done several trekkings in Nepal since like : LangTang, Everest Basecamp, Annapourna circuit etc.Sometimes with Tika and sometimes with another guide working for him named Tej who also became a close friend to me over the years. Always to my full satisfaction. Didn't had to worry about anything. It was all very well taken care of the trekkings as well as acommodation in Ktm and Pokhara. I can fully recommend Amdmiral Adventure treks to everyone because why would I go back there every time if i thought i could do better with another company?Enjoy your time in Nepal and you better do it with Admiral adventure treks!!
